      CENTRAL AMERICA

Sadly, the beautiful tropical countries of Central America are being negatively impacted by violent and unpredictable weather, pervasive corruption and lack of economic opportunities. Social conflict due to natural disasters, food insecurity and water scarcity most impact vulnerable populations.

Belize

A remote school in the jungle was visited by IFED board members and guests on an AmeriCorps program. We delivered several suitcases of various educational and art supplies to benefit the teachers and students.

COSTA RICA

The youngsters of this marginal urban community are exposed to multiple vices each day. They are being offered an opportunity to focus their energy in a constructive way by participating in a soccer program. As part of our sponsorship, IFED provided soccer uniforms and socks to all team members, helping them to present a strong and positive image throughout the community.

Honduras

Fifteen new white boards and lots of school supplies made their way to remote schools. Ten students were identified for sponsorship of computers for future studies through our partner organization. The commitment of the teachers and students to improve their future with hard work and diligence is inspiring.

PANAMA

The remote village of Mash Pubbar is in the Darien Gap near the Columbian border. USAID built a block school with 5 classrooms, cafeteria and lodging for teachers. Unfortunately, no textbooks, posters or educational materials were available for teaching. We located a bookstore in Panama City where we could purchase educational materials appropriate for the teachers to develop a curriculum for the village children.
